2009 (Junior)
Played in 11 games, with eight starts at running back .Averaged 5.2 yards per carry (124-for-650), with a team-leading seven rushing TDs…Also led the Rams in overall TDs with eight, including one through the air (13 catches, 155 yards, 11.9 avg.).
Named in the season’s opening week one of five permanent team captains, the only special-teams captain…In resounding career debut as starting RB, a 23-17 win at Colorado (Sept. 6), scored the Rams’ only two touchdowns, his first multi-TD effort as a college player (had previously scored on a kickoff return, fumbled opponent kickoff return, carry and reception, but never more than once in a game).
Scored CSU’s first 2009 points, a 1-yard plunge on the Rams’ initial series, then caught his first TD pass in two years, 13-yard reception as a receiver late in the first quarter to put CSU up 14-0.
Weber State (Sept. 12) but did not play…Returned as a backup RB to help Rams to assertive 35-20 win vs. Nevada (Sept. 19), establishing a career high with 99 yards (on 18 carries, 5.5 avg., one TD); set up his own 1-yard TD one play later with a 10-yard run in the first quarter, diving for the pylon.
Later in Wolf Pack contest, converted a third-and-1 on another first-quarter TD drive, and had four second-half carries of 10-or-more yards, including an 18-yard burst to set up the Rams’ final TD.
In conference-opening loss at No. 19 BYU (Sept. 26), returned to the starting lineup for the first time in three weeks, and on a second-quarter touchdown drive that got the Rams back in the game, caught a 15-yard pass to convert a third down.
Later in Cougars contest, after a big 16-yard run early in the second half, got his wind knocked out but later returned.
In bitter 31-29 loss at Idaho (Oct. 3), converted a fourth down to keep alive a first-quarter TD march; also picked up an important first down on a direct snap, early in the third quarter.
In loss at No. 8 TCU (Oct. 17), made a stellar one-handed grab late in the first half to give CSU an important first down.
In loss to San Diego State (Oct. 24), returned to the starting lineup and racked up a then-career-high 130 rushing yards, his first 100-yard effort, with a TD carry and TD pass; on his first pass as a college player, found FB Zac Pauga for a 23-yard go-ahead score late in the third quarter.
Earlier vs. Aztecs on a first-quarter TD drive, had six carries for 27 yards, including a fourth-down conversion and a 6-yard score, in which he muscled himself into the end zone through a pair of SDSU defenders; later set up another TD with a 22-yard run, longest of his career until his 24-yard scamper in the fourth quarter.
In loss at UNLV (Nov. 7), scored both Rams TDs – a career-best two rushing TDs — and converted a pair of fourth downs in the first half; first, in the first quarter, broke a tackle in the backfield before reeling off a 12-yard run to convert a fourth-and-1, then set up his own TD with a fourth-down run off a direct snap just before halftime.
Scored on the next play from 1 yard out, before adding a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
In heart-crushing last-second loss at New Mexico (Nov. 21), had a bittersweet career-high 177 rushing yards on 27 carries, with two rushing TDs; was on the way into the end zone for a third score that would’ve put CSU up 34-26 with only 6 minutes left, but fumbled and the Lobos recovered on the CSU 5.
Up until that unfortunate play, just his second fumble in 138 touches, had touched the ball on all seven snaps, and had accounted for all 77 yards on the march, including a career-long 39-yard run, setting the Rams up for a game-clinching score…Earlier in Lobos contest, set up his own second-quarter score with a 22-yard burst one play prior.
Started the 17-16 loss vs. Wyoming (Nov. 27), picking up 36 yards on four carries before departing with injury; gashed the Cowboys with a 26-yard blast in the second quarter, setting up his 1-yard TD?that was nullified by a chop-block penalty (CSU eventally scored).
2008 (Sophomore)
Played in all 13 games, playing both on special teams and on offense.
Had 122 rushing yards, on 30 carries (4.1 avg.), with two TDs…Also posted 16 catches for 122 yards (7.6 avg.), and returned 16 kickoffs for 381 yards (23.8 avg.) and another TD.
Added a fourth TD, returning an opponent’s fumbled kickoff return, in Game 5.
In season opener vs. Colorado (Aug. 31), returned the first kickoff of his collegiate career for a 90-yard touchdown, snapping the nation’s third-longest streak of kickoffs without a TD (285); on the play, found a crease in the middle of the field, then out ran three CU pursuers down the far sideline over the last 40 yards before diving for the pylon…Also converted a third down with a final-quarter carry in Buffs contest.
Had season highs in carries (7) and yards (27) at Cal (Sept. 27), and produced five first downs, including his first career rushing TD, a 1-yard plunge; also led the team with four receptions.
In conference-opening win vs. UNLV (Oct. 4), scored the day’s final points, recovering a fumble for a touchdown with no time remaining on a crazy kickoff return, igniting the CSU bench into euphoria; earlier, appeared to have recovered a fumble on another kickoff, when CSU claimed he had stolen the ball from UNLV kickoff returner Michael Johnson at the Rebels’ 26-yard line, but replays couldn’t produce enough conclusive evidence to overturn the call.
Had two carries for 9 yards, vs. TCU (Oct. 11) and the nation’s No. 1 rushing defense; both attempts were on direct snaps…Caught a career-most five passes at No. 14 Utah (Oct. 18).
In important win at San Diego State (Oct. 25), proved himself as a valuable playmaker, catching two timely passes; after converting a third-and-4 late in the first half, set up Kory Sperry’s game-winning TD by taking a short pass and streaking down the far sideline for 48 yards late in the third quarter.
In tough, 45-42 loss vs. No. 17 BYU (Nov. 1), took a direct snap and scored on a 9-yard run to give CSU a first-quarter lead…Early in win vs. New Mexico (Nov. 15), posted the longest carry of his young career, 14 yards, to convert a third down on a game-opening field-goal drive.
In fourth quarter of win at Wyoming (Nov. 22), struck the Cowboys with runs of 8 and 9 yards to advance the Rams’ eventual touchdown drive that put the game away, helping CSU to bowl eligibility.
In New Mexico Bowl triumph vs. Fresno State (Dec. 20), saw a 45-yard kickoff return wiped out by a penalty away from the runback.
2007 (Freshman)
Finished with 14 carries for 40 yards (2.9 avg.), and five catches for 46 yards (9.2 avg.), including one TD.
Made his college debut in season opener at Colorado (Sept. 1), carrying once for 1 yard…Also played briefly in Week 2 vs. Cal (Sept. 8).
At Houston (Sept. 22), scored his initial career TD on his first collegiate reception, a weaving, 21-yard play that gave CSU an early 14-3 advantage.
Took the bulk of the carries at TCU (Sept. 29), with 34 yards on 10 attempts.
Underwent mouth surgery during the practice week and did not play at BYU (Nov. 3), but returned to his special-teams role at New Mexico (Nov. 10).
Caught a pass for 6 yards in win vs. Georgia Southern (Nov. 17).
2006
Redshirted as a true freshman in his first season of college eligibility.
High School
A two-year starter and letterwinner at Columbus High School in Miami, Fla. …Led both Dade County and Broward County with 1,534 rushing yards in 2005…Also scored 22 TDs to lead the region…Was runner-up Mr. Florida Football in 2005…Received the Old Spice Red Zone Award, presented to the Top 50 football players in the country by USA Today…Named first-team all-league as a senior…Also was named to the all-Dade County team in 2005…Played in Dade vs. Broward all-star game as well as the South vs. North Dade all-star contest…Named Dade County MVP in 2005…Helped team to district championship under head coach Chris Merritt…Also attended Palmetto High School in Miami, Fla., for two-and-a-half years…Member of the National Honor Society…Also competed in track.
